Entirely student-led since founding (March 2022).

App-In Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization expanding access to AI, app development, and student research.

We believe in impact-driven learning: thinking independently, learning together, and building for our communities. What began with online workshops now spans chapters worldwide, while collaborations with App Inventor and industry partners have expanded our reach and opened new opportunities. At every stage, students take ownership of their learning. As our research team grows, our ambition is to be part of the journey of tomorrow’s leading minds.

Tianyi Huang (aka Tony) began ideating App-In Club in 2021 and founded it in March 2022. As president, he has grown that idea into App-In Club as we know it today: a global, student-led nonprofit, impacting tens of thousands of students worldwide.

When Tony first set out to grow the club, he became curious about educational tools for app development. That was when he first discovered MIT App Inventor. While working to form a partnership, he became App Inventor’s first Student Ambassador to help expand its mission. He later also contributed through Google Summer of Code ’25 before joining as an AI Research Fellow.

In the latter half of 2025, Tony became Cleanlab’s youngest full-time employee, serving as an ML Engineer working on trustworthy AI solutions. Cleanlab, a leading data-centric AI company previously named to the Forbes AI 50, was acquired in January 2026 by Handshake AI, which later reported over $1 billion in gross annualized revenue. Since the acquisition, Tony has been conducting research at MIT CSAIL and building Ryquo.
